Herman The German Friendship Cake: Day 1

A friend from church introduced me to Herman The German Friendship Cake. I thought i would document my day to day journey with Herman as it’s a cute concept that you might like to try if you haven’t already!

Basically you are given a portion of “Herman Starter” that you take care of for ten days. After the ten days are up, Herman has increased in size so you divide him into four portions, give three portions away to friends and keep the fourth portion and use it to bake a cake!

Obviously Herman is not grain free however i really like the concept and I’d actually like to try a grain free version…so stay tuned for that 😉

Here are the instructions:

Herman The German Friendship Cake InstructionsSo without further ado, here is my Herman on Day 1:

Herman The German Friendship Cake Day 1 - 00You need to make sure Herman is placed in a large bowl as he can bubble up quite high

Herman The German Friendship Cake Day 1 - 01As you can see, he is already starting to bubble

I will check back tomorrow with his progress!
